Feliz Navidad fun fly

We did it again this year, invited all the active clubs in Texas to come help Rockport open the seasons celebrations. (excuse to have a vendor venue in festival grounds).
Pretty much a ritual by now, we gather Fri nite at China A and eat sushiama and boiled shrimp (well I do), or classic Chinese dishes.

Then Sat morning we gather on Rockport Beach Park and haul every piece of ripstop we can fit into the air.

There were all sorts of kites as usual, even some “sea creatures” fresh from the workshop

There was suddenly a wind shift,  and everything came slowly to the ground…..except a pink “howling wolf” delta I gifted to Floyd, and another pink/blue little delta that BR and Kat had…pink kites had the stamina to hang in for sure.  Tom Irby had a tri-wing Fokker imitation that lasted right up to the last wee breath of wind.

There are some real works of art that fly, Jeff has a nice piece and it was on display for a while.

Donna did a great job again in capturing our time in digital form.  These pics in this article mostly are hers. Thanks again.

Sunday this year was “unplanned” so some enjoyed a “casual” breakfast, some went to bug Ralph at the PortA kite shop, some went chasing big birds….real ones, not kites for once.

But once again, the Great Texas Kite Club Fun Fly was most enjoyable.  Folks got a chance to connect with new friends but this year it was also “re-connect” time for folks with long history of kiting in Rockport.  Good to see you again, don’t be strangers!!
