Wickedrevs Windy World

Who is “Wickedrevs”?

The nickname “wickedrevs” came about quite late in my life, as a kite flyer actually.

I was making kites while overseas in the Eastern Caribbean islands from palm frond ribs and scraps of newsprint or tissue paper when I was but a teenager with my younger brother helping.

Many years later I was exposed to dual line sport kites while at a beach resort town when traveling in Mexico.

I pursued the sport kite hobby at a Galveston, TX kite shop, purchasing and taking my little sport kite back to Arizona to play with. Upon returning to Texas a year later, I was exposed to quad-line kites called “Revolutions” and was transfixed by them.

You see the image of “Wickedrevs” flying a Rev Blast, large kite capable of propelling the hobbyist on a mountain board, or a kite buggy. I was called out as being “wicked” with my moves flying Revolution kites——“wickedrevs” was born!!

  • Glass Half Full???

A young lady confidently walked around the room while explaining stress management to an audience with a raised glass of water. Everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, ‘half empty or half full?’… She fooled them all…. “How heavy is this glass of water?” she inquired with a smile. Answers called out…

  • No Place Like It…

It has been home for many years. I was only 6 weeks old when first I inhabited the Republic, and have returned, left, and returned again over the 63 years since. Proud to call Texas my home. Here are some little known, very interesting facts about Texas: 1. Port Arthur to El Paso : 889…

  • Hello Halloween….

As I have been out of the loop lately, I thought an entry for Halloween night would be fun. I had a medical issue in late May, resulting in three months of hospitals and a permanent move to an assisted living/rehab center.  Therfore the lack of any content for a while. After several months I…

  • No Words

A friend of mine just experienced the loss of his Mother, so I called to forward my condolences and support.  In our conversation we mentioned that it was never easy, but with elderly folks fighting illnesses at least we are somewhat emotionally prepared, not like a sudden loss like a child or sibling.  I’ve lost…

  • Aging, Who Me?

It’s getting harder and harder to do what I used to, and that really bites!   I ran across a funny little bit today about being older so here it is.   Old ager says…. It’s almost 2019, I’m 62 years old now and worn out, and I still have so many unanswered questions!!!! I…

I am passing along a piece posted by Shana Habib Brader whom is a client and friend. There were many families severely affected by Hrricaine Harvey and we are still in the process of healing in our community. This is a success story, and I’m sharing …..   SHANA HABIB BRADER WRITES…. • When Harvey Came

A year has passed since Harvey the Horrible came knocking.   I wrote a “play by play” description of riding the storm out back last year, but our community has had time to partially heal, lick our wounds, and reflect some. I recently ran across this piece by a fellow Harvey survivor and felt compelled…

  • Golden Years List

Many of us are between 65 and death, i.e. old. My friend sent me this excellent list for aging . . . and I have to agree it’s good advice to follow. The guy who sent this hi-lighted #19. 1. It’s time to use the money you saved up. Use it and enjoy it. Don’t…
